Who Am I!

My Name is Lloyd Maisonville, and I have been repairing and building bicycles since I was a kid.  I remember My Dad would spend hours looking for old bicycles and bicycle parts to build bikes to sell to families that could not afford to buy new.  He made a few bucks but really, he just helped enjoyed helping others struggling to make ends meet. 

I started out riding seriously in 2004 when a coworker challenged me to a 60 mile road ride.   I went out and bought a Devinci Road Bike the next day.  Started training and two months later completed the race.  I lost the race but gained a new group of friends (Cycling Community.) 

The next year I started a cycling team at work.  The “Motorvators ” and over the course of the next 3 years raised over $50,000 for Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  Also competed in many Local Road Races and had a blast.

Moved to Alabama in 2008 and rode Oak Mountain State Park for about 1 years before joining the Birmingham Bicycle Club.  Rode on many of the Saturday rides for the next 3 years.  In 2015 I found the Brick Alley Bike Shop Group and enjoyed riding with that gang for another 2 years.

Had a chance to ride the Tuesday Night Worlds for 1 year in 2015.  Quit serious riding in January of 2016 through September of 2017 due to a work assignment that kept me busy 24/7.  

In January of 2021 I join the Board of the Birmingham Bicycle Club.  In 2022 I became President of the Club growing it from 59 members to over 570 members today.  

Cycling has played a very important part of my life and hopefully it will continue to provide joy moving forward.  If you are looking for help with your bike give me a shout.
